One-paragraph pitch
You are EP-047, an estate-liquidation squad sent into the abandoned R&D branch of Avaris — the largest company that ever existed, and the most recently dead. Six floors. Three branching routes past the third. Classic Final Fantasy Tactics moment-to-moment, with one twist: the boss on the final floor is not designed. It's the last squad that finished the game before you, left behind as a "ghost". Defeat them and you take their place. Lose, and the next player will face you.
Longer description
The first hour of the game is a corporate comedy about being new at a massive company. The second hour is a procedural about neutralizing contractual threats. The third hour no longer has those names.
O Espólio de Avaris is inspired by Made in Abyss (descent as a vector), Shutter Island (the person on the other side of the door), Dark Souls (the ghost at the previous bonfire), and a lifetime of corporate email threads with zipped attachments.
Mechanically, it is a classic isometric tactics game — grid, turns, height, facing, line of sight — with a persistent meta-layer on top: every real squad that finishes the game is saved to a shared Firebase pool and can be encountered by subsequent players as the final boss.
Key features
- Hollow System — The Sub-5 boss is a ghost of another player. Win and you replace them. Lose and their "absorbed" counter ticks up.
- Three routes + Route Z — Branching paths past Sub-3 with their own maps, enemies and narrative; a hidden fourth route unlocks only after you finish the game and cannot be undone.
- Classic tactical combat — 1 attack + 1 move per turn in any order, direction-aware backstabs, stamina (SP) and battery (BP) resource economies, 5 playable classes, 11+ enemy classes.
- Internal achievement system — 31 achievements tracked locally; Steam integration planned for V1.1 via the same API.
- Dev-side bug reports — In-game 🐛 button submits a screenshot + game state + description straight to the developer's admin panel.
- Two languages at launch, five more planned — Portuguese (pt-BR) and English ship with V1. Spanish, German, Italian, Japanese and Simplified Chinese are on the post-launch roadmap.
About the developer
Luis Matias is a Brazilian software developer based in Curitiba,
Paraná. O Espólio de Avaris is his first released game — a solo
project built in the open, with the web playtest at avaris.games
serving as both marketing and QA during the pre-launch window.
The game has no publisher, no external funding, and no team beyond the author. Art and audio assets for the V1.1 Steam release will be contracted after the web playtest validates the gameplay and narrative systems.
